AIM

The aim of this course is to prepare candidates appearing for the Port Limit Steersman Manning Licence Examination.

 

COVERAGE OF COURSE

The PLSC covers the following main topics:

  • Regulations for Prevention of Collisions at Sea

  • Life Saving and Fire Fighting Equipment

  • Port Regulations Applicable to Harbour Craft

  • Emergencies at Sea

  • Boat Handling and Seamanship

  • Anchorages and Aids to Navigation within the Port Limits

  • Pollution Prevention

  • Tidal Information in Port Limits

PRE-REQUISITES REQUIREMENTS

a) Citizens or permanent residents of at least 18 years of age

b) Have passed an approved eyesight test; and

c) Have, within the past five years, served a total of at least six months in the capacity of a crew in one of the following power-driven vessels:

  • Licensed harbour craft; or

  • Vessels belonging to the Government of Singapore or a Statutory Board; or

  • Sea-going vessels engaged in trade, trawlers or deep-sea fishing vessels.

DURATION: 4 Days
