AIM
The aim of this ETM course is to ensure that engineers are
trained as an engineering team to effectively manage engine
room resources. A good engine room team management will
enable the team to tackle unexpected events and reduce the
potential confusion and hence minimize error. Engine room
team that has successful completed this course will have
good teamwork, good co-ordination, communication and
capabilities of handling emergencies.
OBJECTIVE OF COURSE
The objective of this course is to enable participants to
gain experience in manning the engine room under various
conditions and contribute effectively as the engine room
team during normal and emergency situation.
COVERAGE OF ETM COURSE
The ETM Course comprises of 8 various exercise scenarios.
Exercise Scenario 1: To put into practice the concepts
and principles of "Communication and briefing".
Exercise Scenario 2: To be able to establish an open
communication style in the engine room that encourages
challenges and appropriate responses from the team.
Exercise Scenario 3: To put into practice the concepts
and principles of STS.
Exercise Scenario 4: To put into practice the concepts
and principles of managing workloads.
Exercise Scenario 5: To put into practice the concepts
and principles of managing state of engine room.
Exercise Scenario 6: To put into practice the concepts
and principles of managing human involvement in error.
Exercise Scenario 7: To put into practice concepts and
principles of making sound judgement and decision.
Exercise Scenario 8: To put into practice concepts and
principles of managing crisis.

The
ETM Course comprises of 16-hour engine room simulation
exercises.
