If you Export to the US, or Import into the US, or Transport
goods into the US, you need to be aware of the new C-TPAT
program.
Under C-TPAT, firms are required to implement comprehensive
security procedures, provide a security plan, answer a
questionnaire, and provide employee training regarding your
security procedures. Failure to do so could result in
unspecified delays, or refusal at the border.
C-TPAT members will undergo random inspections and audits by
US Customs to ensure compliance. In addition, importers to
the US have to ascertain that their Supply Chain Providers
also meet the standards.
STET Maritime can assist you to comply
with C-TPAT requirements. Our service includes the
following:
Registration / Self-Assessments: STET Maritime will
assist your company in compliance and acceptance to this
program, by completing the appropriate application process,
and facilitating self-assessments to meet contemporary
industry standards and C-TPAT guidelines. Our turnkey
approach provides you the ability to navigate C-TPAT
requirements and attain your membership in a timely fashion
without the typical delays encountered by someone unfamiliar
with Customs best practices.
Vulnerability Assessments / Security Profile: As a
recognized industry leader, STET Maritime provides your
company the opportunity to conduct a vulnerability
assessment that results in an effective physical protection
system. Our assessment methodologies complies with US Coast
Guard Navigation and Vessel Inspection Circular (NVIC). The
STET Maritime team will apply the appropriate methodology
for your industry and our team approach ensures your company
not only exceeds any C-TPAT guidelines, but fully
understands the process.
Physical Protection Systems: A proper assessment
requires competent knowledge and the ability to address
specific security technologies, as well as, operational
mitigation issues. It is the combination of the two and the
use of the Design and Evaluation Process Outline (DEPO) that
ensures proper design of a physical protection system. STET
Maritime's team approach provides subject matter experts to
meet all of your needs, from dealing with basic
interdependencies to the cyber threat.
Policies and Procedures: One of the most overlooked, yet
most important, aspects of security. We will assist your
company in evaluating current policies and procedures as
they relate to physical and personnel security, manifest
procedures, and other workplace issues. This area is also
one of the most cost-effective to improve overall security.
Emergency Response Plans: Although not specifically
addressed in current C-TPAT guidelines, an Emergency
Response Plan (ERP) is an integral part of any security
plan. Whether it's an enhancement to an existing plan or
development of an entirely new plan, a company should
address / review their ERP in conjunction with the security
assessment.
Training: Quality training is essential for
implementation and the proper performance of security
procedures throughout the supply chain. STET Maritime offers
various different courses related to security or can tailor
training for your company's specific needs. Whether its
basic training for a newly created Security Manager
position, or more advanced training for your proprietary
security officers to conduct their own assessments, training
is available for your needs.
Validation Processing: STET Maritime is committed to
following the process from beginning to end, ensuring not simply
member acceptance but continuous compliance to C-TPAT
guidelines. Our staff is prepared to act as your
representative on the Partnership Verification Team (PVT)
during the review of your security profile. Our knowledge of
CBP procedures enhances a smooth transition during this
process. |
