This course combining ISM & ISPS familiarisation and security audit elements, is designed for those interested in understanding and performing Internal Audits of security management systems based on the International Safety Management (ISM) Code and International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.

The ISM / ISPS Auditor Course places particular emphasis on the objectives, skills and techniques of effective internal auditing. The auditor training element meets the requirements of the International Register of Certificated Auditors (IRCA) and Procedure 25 of the International Association of Classification Society.

The ISM / ISPS Auditor Course covers the following topics:

• Understanding the background, objectives and impact of the ISM and ISPS Code

• Understanding the applicable safety and security criteria

• Review and interpret the content of the ISM and ISPS Code

• Current maritime security practices

• Understanding the auditing requirements of ISM and ISPS Code

• Understanding the basics of safety management and risk in shipping

• Understanding the requirements of port facility and ship security plan approval and certification

• Hands on experience on how to plan, schedule and conduct an audit for compliance with the ISM and ISPS Code.
