2011: Launch of Two New Security Courses

We have added two more courses that will offer a more comprehensive range of security courses for the security practitioners. Bringing to you two quite different types of skill sets, these two courses cater for personnel with distinct sets of responsibilities.

Investigation Techniques – a master class (Download course/ trainer information here)

Are there (potential) incidents in your organization that may call upon your skills as an in-house investigator? Acquire the asset of Investigation Techniques straight from a master in this field. In this 2-day master class, participants will develop an understanding of what entails a good investigative stance and uncover information about a crime and determine causes of an incident. By the end of the programme, participants would also have gained a fundamental understanding of the Singapore legal system and be competent to conduct a sound and unbiased investigation.

Trainer: Mr. Mohamad Shairi bin Mohamad Shahir (former Chief Investigaion Officer with the Singapore Police Force)

Course Date: 10-11 February 2011

Security Resource Management(SRM) (Download course information here)

Imagine managing security incidents in both normal and escalated periods with full personnel cooperation and zero judgment error. An impossible ideal?

Designed for leaders and decision makers in operational situations, the basis of the SRM originated in the airline industry and subsequently made its way to the international shipping lanes. STET HLS is proud to bring its debut to the security industry today.

Understanding that the bulk of mishaps are caused not by technical failures but management errors, the SRM is specifically designed to enable participants to minimize the risk of judgment error with a powerful combination of leadership excellence and sound management skills. Recommended for leaders of teams of all sizes.

Course Date: 25-27 April 2011

Launch of Emergency Preparedness SMS for the Bukit Panjang Constituency – 5 September 2010

Roped in by the People’s Association, STET HLS created a series of SMS alerts which tells residents how to keep safe during fires, handle fainted people, perform CPR, and even provide tips on how to handle bomb threats and what to do if trapped in debris. A total of eight SMS alerts were developed for the series.

“Using the common tool of SMS, we are able to relay critical EP messages to the Grassroots Leaders, EP volunteers and the community of what needs to be done during an emergency situation. This is made possible through our collaboration with STET Homeland Security Services,” said Dr. Teo Ho Pin, Mayor, North West District.

As part of community outreach by STET Homeland Security Services, 14 project consultants will also be volunteering across divisions to look into enhancing the safety and security in the neighborhood. They will join the respective Community Emergency and Engagement (C2E) committees and assist in preserving and building community cohesion and harmony.

"STET Homeland Security Services believes in serving the greater community with security solutions and educational outreach programmes targeted at both the public and commercial sectors, not forgetting the heartlands where our fellow neighbors and citizens play such an important role in helping to keep all of us safe,” said Mr. Tan Chong Kuan, Managing Director, STET Homeland Security Services.

Course: The Art and Science of Security Profiling (SP) – 19-20 August, 2010

'People' are increasingly the downfall of security - Can you trust your friends, colleagues or even yourself?

‘People’ are at once both the weakest and most powerful links. Forget complex systems, did you know you can put security in your pocket and make our living and working spaces safer than any expensive system can? If guards and cards are all that you know of security, step into the little-known world where Security is a human art than science.

In this friendly and engaging program, participants had a good time discovering and applying the surprising elegance of Security as the art that is little known. Keep a lookout for next year’s intake!
